A Level company - serving Annapolis, MD

DuraFlex Fireplace Services Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • DuraFlex 316L liner pitting near the smoke shelf. We see this regularly on wood-burning fireplaces in Annapolis homes within a half-mile of the water. Salt air plus moisture trapped behind an old clay tile accelerates corrosion on the stainless steel. The liner looks fine from the top, but the camera shows pitting at the lower third. We replace the affected section with OEM-equivalent 316L or upgrade to a thicker gauge, depending on how far the corrosion has spread.
  • DuraFlex Pro stainless tees shifting out of alignment on fireplace inserts. The tee connection behind an insert loosens over repeated heating cycles, especially when the original install didn’t include proper support strapping. Symptoms are intermittent downdrafts and a musty smell after rain. We reseat the tee, add support where missing, and document the before and after with photos.
  • Gas fireplace exhaust backing up through a corroded DuraFlex aluminum liner. DuraFlex aluminum flex liner is rated for gas appliances only, but when moisture condenses in an oversized or unconditioned chase, the aluminum thins and develops pinholes. That means exhaust leakage into the chase, which a carbon monoxide meter will sometimes catch only on windy days. We camera the liner, then the fix is straightforward: replace it with properly sized DuraFlex or a direct vent system, depending on what the appliance actually calls for.
  • Fireboxes with spalling brick around the damper frame. This isn’t strictly a DuraFlex problem, but it shows up where a liner was installed without addressing the original firebox condition. Spalling bricks shed face material, which falls into the damper seat and prevents a tight close. We repair the firebox with heat-rated mortar and set the damper alignment, then verify the draft with the camera.
  • Corroded rain caps and top plates on otherwise healthy liners. Most Annapolis chimney caps are steel, not stainless, and they rust at the clamp points. That rust drips down onto the liner crown and locks the top plate to the flue tile. At that point, the cap fails before the liner does. We replace the cap with OEM-equivalent stainless, re-seal the crown, and the system is back to ventilating properly.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Services Process

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Services Process
  1. 1
We answer the phone and schedule a same-week visit. A live person takes your call, not a voicemail tree. We ask basic questions: fuel type, last service date, what you’re seeing or smelling now.
  2. 2
The tech arrives with the camera and runs a full inspection. Every visit includes a documented photo record under Clause 4 of the Haven Standard. We look at the liner, firebox, damper, cap, and connections before we tell you anything costs money.
  3. 3
We show you the photos and explain what they mean in plain language. You see exactly what our camera saw. If it’s a clean bill, we say so. If the liner is pitted or the damper won’t seat, you see that too.
  4. 4
You get a written price, scope, and warranty before any work starts. No technician “checking with the office,” no surprise line item. This is Haven Standard Clause 1, and it’s why we never say “call for a quote.”
  5. 5
We do the repair, test the draft, and run the unit. After the work, we verify airflow with the equipment running, if it’s a gas unit, and smoke test the draft if it’s wood-burning.
  6. 6
You get a photo record of the completed work, and we’re done. Written warranty, your photos, and everything documented. The 365-Day Done Right Promise means if it’s not done right, we return and make it right.

The camera doesn’t guess. Neither do we.

What DuraFlex Fireplace Services Costs in Annapolis

Here’s what we charge for the most common DuraFlex-related jobs, and what moves the number:

Why Annapolis Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Annapolis for DuraFlex Work

We’ve done more than 38,000 inspections and cleanings since 2009, every one of them with a written price before work started and a documented photo record when it was done. That practice wasn’t something regulators made us adopt. It’s how we’ve worked since day one, and it became Clause 4 of the Haven Standard years before insurers started asking for camera documentation.

Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed. You know who’s coming and when. Every job gets the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. And if you already have a written estimate from another company, bring it in. We’ll give you a free second opinion on it.

We also stock and work with HeatShield and Gelco alongside DuraFlex. Sometimes the right answer for a chimney isn’t DuraFlex at all. When we tell you that, you’ll see why on the camera footage, not in our sales pitch.
