Gelco Chimney Repair Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Gelco Chimney Repair in Annapolis: What to Know First

We repair Gelco chimney components throughout Annapolis, and most jobs are completed in one visit. Typical Gelco repair work runs $425-$1,850 depending on what failed. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, a camera inspection on every visit, and a documented photo record when we’re done. If you have a Gelco chase cover, cap, or flashing that’s failing, call (443) 274-4231 and we’ll tell you what we’re looking at before we ask for a commitment.

How Gelco Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Gelco chase covers on prefab fireplaces. We see the standard Gelco galvanized chase cover rust through at the seams first, usually within 8-12 years of install. The problem isn’t the metal gauge; it’s the folded corner welds where water pools. We replace with a stainless or copper unit cut to the original footprint, which stops the drip pattern that rots the plywood under the siding and the firestop inside.
  • Gelco multi-flue caps and their mounting brackets. The bracket legs on older Gelco caps were press-fit, not bolted, and they loosen with thermal cycling. A loosened cap lets rain in around the flue tile shoulders and can blow off entirely in a Chesapeake squall. We inspect every Gelco cap for leg movement, then either re-secure with mechanical fasteners or swap in a replacement that doesn’t rely on friction alone.
  • Gelco terracotta-look shrouds on masonry chimneys. These are the decorative covers made to mimic clay pot crowns, and the failure mode we see most in Annapolis is spalling along the lower lip where salt mist and freeze cycles chew the composite. The material is fine until the lip cracks, then water runs down the outside of the flue and into the crown mortar. We repair the lip where it’s clean, and when the shell is compromised, we replace with a Gelco unit or a matching composite that carries the same profile.
  • Gelco spark arrestor screens. Their mesh is a finer gauge than many aftermarket screens, which means it clogs faster and bends more easily. In Annapolis, where oak and poplar are everywhere, we find Class III creosote caked into Gelco arrestor mesh much more often than on other brands. We clean or replace the screen, and if it’s collapsed, we don’t rebuild it; we replace the arrestor assembly and coat the new one to slow the buildup.
  • Gelco appliances installed with mastic instead of proper flashing. This is a house flipper special we see in Annapolis neighborhoods where homes changed hands between 2015 and 2022. A Gelco cap or shroud gets bedded in roofing mastic instead of metal flashing, and within two or three years the mastic lifts and channels water under the shingles. We cut out the mastic, install the correct step or apron flashing, and the Gelco unit stays doing its job.

Our Gelco Chimney Repair Process

Our Gelco Chimney Repair Process
  1. 1
You call (443) 274-4231. A live person answers, 24/7. You describe the symptom; we give you a straight range of what it usually costs to fix.
  2. 2
We inspect before we touch anything. Camera down the flue, a look at the crown and chase top, and photos of everything. Haven Standard Clause 4 applies on every Gelco job: a documented photo record is included, not an upsell.
  3. 3
We write the price. Parts, labor, and disposal, in writing, before a tool comes off the truck. We name the Gelco part or the aftermarket equivalent, and we tell you why one or the other makes sense for your chimney.
  4. 4
The repair. We use OEM Gelco components when the existing setup is under warranty, and quality aftermarket from DuraFlex, HeatShield, or Copperfield when the OEM part is discontinued or priced against the repair’s remaining life.
  5. 5
We test and document. We run the chimney, check draft and moisture, then walk you through the before and after photos. You walk away with a written scope and a written warranty.

What Gelco Chimney Repair Costs in Annapolis

These are ranges we quote regularly in Annapolis, and they hold unless the inspection uncovers something structural behind the Gelco component:

  • Gelco chase cover replacement: $425-$780 installed, depending on chase footprint and gauge
  • Gelco cap or shroud re-securing: $180-$320
  • Spark arrestor screen cleaning or replacement: $140-$410, depending on access and whether the arrestor needs a full swap
  • Flashing repair around Gelco units: $480-$950, depending on roof pitch and whether we’re cutting out mastic or replacing step flashing
  • Full Gelco shroud or multi-flue cap replacement: $900-$1,850, including disposal of the old unit

What moves the price: roof access, chase height, whether the old flashing can be salvaged, and whether salt corrosion has spread to the crown or chase framing. We always provide a Free Second Opinion on any written estimate, so if another Annapolis contractor quoted you a number, bring it. Call (443) 274-4231 for a free estimate.

Why Annapolis Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Annapolis for Gelco Work

Why Annapolis Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Annapolis for Gelco Work

We’ve cleaned and inspected fireplaces throughout Annapolis, including the older wood-burning units along the Eastport waterfront where salt air and irregular use make annual cleaning less optional than most homeowners assume. Every Gelco repair is written down before it’s started, photographed while it’s happening, and warranted when it’s done. The 365-Day Done Right Promise backs every job under the Haven Standard: if it’s not done right, we make it right. We’re an independent Gelco service provider, not a manufacturer rep; our recommendation is based on what the camera shows, not what a parts catalog says. And when a Gelco part isn’t the answer, we’ll tell you what is, usually from DuraFlex or HeatShield. Corrine Halstead started doing this work with a camera first and a wire brush second, and after more than a decade, that order has never changed.
